Fantasy Baseball Draft Report Card: "World Champion Astros"

As I've said and written many times before, I do these report cards in "stream of consciousness" mode. Not a lot of research, not overthinking anything... just going with my gut reactions to these teams. Just trying to create a little buzz within our league!

Team: World Champion Astros

Manager: Steve

Infield: I texted Stevo on the side, "What the hell is a Varsho?" Apparently, he's an outfielder for Arizona who is Catcher eligible in fantasy. You always like to see a situation like that. 11 homers in 284 at bats, not bad for a Catcher in fantasy. When you get into the name brands in Steve's infield - Guerrero, Merrifield, Tim Anderson and Abreu - you immediately realize, as usual, the big fella ain't messin' around. You gotta love the combination of power, speed and gap-to-gap, there.

Infield Grade: A

Outfield: I'm a Franmil Reyes Guy, so I love to see him there, and of course Stevo is hinging a lot on Luis Robert. I believe Coach Billy is a believer in Robert, as well. He's just one of those kids with monster talent who simply needs to stay healthy and establish consistency. Trent Grisham is another young gun with upside potential at the dish. Not a ton of depth in this group, though.

Outfield Grade: B+

Starting Pitching: Stevie's goin' with the "ballpark factors". Everybody knows about pitching in San Fran, so SS scooped up both Logan Webb and Anthony DeSclafani. Miami is generally for pitchers too, and here we see youngster Trevor Rogers. I'm just not quite sure I trust Webb (8th) and Rogers (11th) at the levels they were drafted, just yet. This league knows I thought Chris Paddack would repeat his early success and well, that just hasn't occurred. Also, Lance Lynn is already getting surgery for Stevo. Key guy.

Starting Pitching Grade: B-

Relief Pitching: Being a reliable Closer is sort of an intangible thing. It takes a certain mindset, consistency and mental fortitude. Steve has Aroldis Chapman and Kenley Jansen, two of the absolute best of their generation. Generally speaking, they just know how to get it done at this point in their veteran careers. Alex Colome, Robert Suarez and Drew Steckenrider round out a particularly strong bullpen, here.

Relief Pitching Grade: A+

OVERALL GRADE: A-
